NIMM-EPH Detmold

Our test laboratory in Detmold can look back on twenty years of experience as Nordwestdeutsches Möbel- und Materialprüfinstitut (NIMM) at the Felix-Fechenbach-Berufskolleg (FFB). Since the summer of 2008, the NIMM-EPH laboratory has been a branch operation of the EPH headquartered in Dresden. The focus of our services provided in Detmold is mechanical and physical testing of furniture and materials supplied to the furniture industry, but also of wood, wood-based materials, adhesives and composites for application in the construction industry and other industrial sectors and craft. NIMM-EPH is accredited by the DAkkS according to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025 for a multitude of standards for furniture, material and surface testing  and recognised by the ZLS as an authorised body to perform GS “Geprüfte Sicherheit” (Tested Safety/GS) type tests. Thanks to closely cooperating with the test laboratory in Dresden, the entire EPH range of testing, surveillance and certification services is also  available to our clients. This neutral position as an “independent third party” enables our test laboratory also to act as a recognised partner for product developers, for RAL quality associations (such as the Deutsche Gütegemeinschaft Möbel (DGM) or commercial traders (Tchibo)). From Detmold we set out on visits to manufacturing sites, which is prerequisite to granting the GS mark issued by our GS Certification Body in Dresden, but also on surveilling assignments performed at manufacturing sites within the scope of CARB/IKEA certification. Since 2009, we have performed facultative training in “Furniture and Material Testing” at our test laboratory for interested students at the College for Wood Technology, supplementing the training program at the FFB. But our scope of services also includes TSM courses on “Working safely at woodworking machines”.
